    gon-qòg dan-ba

ཉི་~མ་   སེར་~པོ་   རི་~ལ་   ཡོལ་~དུས་

ñi~ma   ser~bo   ri~la   yol~dǔs,

When the yellow sun sets behind the mountain,

                དྲན་~པ་   སྙིང་~གི་   ཨ་~ཇོ།

                drǎn~ba   ñìŋ~gĭ   a~jǒ.

                I remember my dear elder brother.

ཟླ་~བ་   དཀར་~པོ་   མཁའ་~ལ་   འཛུམ་~དུས་

dá~va   gar~bo   kà~la   zùm~dǔs,

When the white moon smiles in the sky,

                སྣང་~བ་   གྲུ་~འཛིན་  རི་~བོ།

                nàŋ~va   drǔ~zìn  ri~vo.

                The Potala hill appears in my mind.

འཛམ་~གླིང་   ཞི་~བདེའི་   ཕོ་~ཉ་   མི་~མཆོག་

zàm~líŋ   xĭ~déi   po~ña   mi~qòg,

Supreme messenger of world peace,

                རྒྱལ་~བའི་   གདུང་~ འཚོབ~།

                gyál~vai   dúŋ~ còb~,

                Regent of the Victorious Ones,

གདན་~ས་   ནོར་~བུ་   གླིང་~ཁའི་   ཕྱོགས

dán~sa   nor~bǔ   líŋ~kai   qyog~la,

Please return soon, without delay,

                མ་~འགྱང་   འབྱོན་~པར་   ཞུ~འོ།

When the ducks, divine birds, fly to the south,

                gyo~va   qu~kai   dó~red.

                Our sadness is like a stone on a river bank.

ཡིད་~འཕྲོག་   ལྷ་~ཡི་   སྲས་~མོར་   འཕྲད་~དུས་

yid~tròg   lha~yi   sàs~mor   tràd~dǔs,

When we meet a charming daughter of the Devas,

                གདུང་~བ་   འོ་~མའི་   སྤྲི་~རེད།

                dúŋ~va   hǒ~mai   dri~red.

                Our passion is like the cream of the milk.

སྦྲ་~ནག་   གྲུ་~བཞིའི་   ཕ་~ཁྱིམ་   སྐྱོང་~བ་

drá~nag   drǔ~xíi   pa~kyim   gyoŋ~va,

I, a son of the mother white snow mountain,

                གངས་~དཀར་   མ་~ལོའི་   བུ་~ངས།

                gǎŋ~gar   ma~loi   bǔ~ŋas,

                Whose home is a rectangular black yak hair tent,

དབུས་~གཙང་   ཡུལ་~དུ་   ཇོ་~བོ་   བསམ་~ནས་

wús~zaŋ   yul~dǔ   jǒ~vo   sàm~nas,

Thinking of visiting the Jowo in the country of Utsang,

                རྩམ་~གྲོ་   རྒྱབ་~ལ་   ཁུར་~སོང་།

                zam~drǒ   gyáb~la   kur~soŋ.

                Carry my tsampa and flour on my back.
