རི་~   མཐོན་~པོའི་ ཁ་ ~དོག་   སེར་~   ~ནོ~   གན~  །

ri~  tòn-boi~    ka  ~dŏg     ser~   ~no~    găn~  

Those streaks of yellow on the high mountain

    དགུན་~   རྒྱ་~སྟག་ འདྲ་ ~མོ་ ཐོན་~  ~རྟགས་~   རེད~  །

    gún~    gyá~dag drà~mo     ton~ ~dag~    red~  .

    Are a sign that, like a tiger, winter is approaching.

རྟ་~ནོར་~ལུག་ ~ འཚོ་~ བའི་~ ཕྱུགས་~ ~བདག་    ཚོ~  །

da~ nor~lug ~     cò~   vai~     qyug~   ~dág     co~  ,

Owners of horses, yaks, sheep, cows, and goats,

    ཕྱུགས་~  བདའ་~  འསྐོར་    མ་  ~བྱེད་

    qyug~   dá~   ă-gor     ma   ~jyěd,

    Don’t round up the livestock, do not,

                    མ་~བྱེད་   ཚོ་~ ~དུས་~  རེད~ །

                    ma~jyěd     co~   ~dŭs~    red~ .

                    for it is time to fatten them.

        ཡ་~  འ་རེ་~ ལོ~  །

        ya ~ ă-re~  lo~ .

                    for it is time to harvest the crops.

    Is a sign that they have reached the limit of old age.
